Our Mission Statement:
"To build a sense of community within Walnut Cove
and to support our Members' charitable efforts
in Western North Carolina."
Who We Are:
The
Walnut Cove Members Association (WCMA) is an organization of caring
individuals who connect with each other to strengthen and support
nonprofit agencies in our local community. All Cliffs at Walnut Cove
property owners are encouraged to be a part of WCMA. As a 501(C)(3) organization run by volunteers, membership dues and donations to WCMA are used to support non profits serving those in need in Western North Carolina. Almost 90% of funds raised go into the surrounding community as grants each year.
What We Do:
Our
efforts focus on grant-making to support local nonprofit agencies
working to meet our community’s critical needs, particularly in the
areas of food and shelter. A unique aspect of our grants is that a WCMA
member who volunteers with the agency sponsors its application. This
intimate knowledge of the agency’s mission and needs benefits our
grant-making decisions and also educates the membership about volunteer
opportunities.
The generosity of our members has resulted in over $4 million in grants to support some 459 programs since 2007,
improving the lives of tens of thousands of Western North Carolina
families.
Our work is serious, but we also have fun! Throughout
the year, WCMA offers its members opportunities to gather socially and
connect with each other. Most of these events take place outside Walnut Cove and provide a chance to learn more about the area.
WCMA offers WC residents a
welcoming entry into our wonderful mountain community. You will make
lasting friendships and learn of local volunteer opportunities.
Regardless of your interests, you will know that your donation to WCMA makes a
powerful difference.
Join us and be a part of the vibrant group voted Outstanding Philanthropic Organization by the
Association of Fundraising Professionals Western NC Chapter.
